Dr. MacDonald is currently an Associate Professor in the Regis School of Physical Therapy. He graduated from the Regis Fellowship in Orthopaedic Manual Therapy in 2006, and is currently the Director of the program. He is dual certified as an orthopedic and geriatric board specialist by the ABPTS.

Dr. MacDonald has received national research awards, and also state and local service awards for the PT profession. He speaks frequently, on a national and international level, on topics including manual therapy, orthopedic conservative management, dry needling and the practice of physical therapy.

He was the past President of the Colorado Chapter of the APTA and previously served as the Chief Delegate in the APTA House of Delegates for Colorado. As a clinician, he provides primary outpatient services within the Regis University clinic. His services to the physical therapy profession include ongoing roles in national guideline panels, professional development and legislative roles.

Dr. MacDonald is the President of the AAOMPT program directors special interest group, Chair of the Advisory Committee for the American Council of Manual Physical Therapy Education and is currently pursuing Ph.D. studies in the historical roots of manual therapy.
