Course Overview

Course Description: (Demonstration & Practice) 

ISOMT’s Advanced Dry Needling Course is designed to take an individual with some background and experience in Dry Needling through our 6 hour course covering advanced topics in Dry Needling including, but not limited to, advanced needling techniques, advanced understanding of the short-term and long term effects of dry needling that may enhance athletic performance.

Advanced clinical reasoning in the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions using needling along or as an adjunct/complimentary part of a holistic treatment approach.

A Sports orthopedic emphasis will be used. Live athlete patients will be used during demonstration and discussion.

 

Course Objectives:

  1. Brief review of Basic Dry Needling concepts from Dry Needling I
    1. Describe the local and systemic mechanisms and effects of Dry Needling
    2. Review Indications and Contraindications for Dry Needling
    3. Review pertinent functional anatomy including muscles, skeleton, vascular system, lung fields using palpation and bony landmarks.
  2. Using real athlete patients we will demonstrate and practice Advanced Dry Needling Techniques including pistoning, spinning, electrical stimulation applied to one or more needles simultaneously, needling the facial region for TMJ, headaches, and Bell’s Palsy.
  3. Advanced Clinical reasoning pertaining to the application of Dry Needling during the history and examination and treatment of a patient.
  4. Describe clinical applications for Advanced Dry Needling in sports & orthopedic patients
  5. Extrapolate the evidence to any potential Dry Needling patient.

In this chapter Dr. steve disccuss in detail and demonstrates dry needling procedure and its different techniques for suboccipital  muscles, Trapezius, Thoracic paraspinal muscle, Rhomboid, Levator scapulae .

chapter 6- Shoulder impingement or rotator cuff strain

Course Description

In this Dr.Stephen discusses about the shoulder impingement or rotator cuff strain and the concept of applying dry needling in almost in all region in shoulder joint like labrum, frozen shoulder, biecps tendinopathy and to some degree of post operative shoulder. How to make clinical reasoning and diagnosis, he also explain which muscle to target and look for regional interdependence. When and Where to apply dry needling and holistic treatment approach.

Chapter 7- Biceps Tendiopathy

In this chapter Dr.Stephen discusses about  biceps tendinopathy causes and he discusses the study done on dry needling vs corticosteriod and dry needling vs lateral epicondylalgia and regional interdependence. He also explains differential diagnosis and ther treatment.

In this chapter Dr. Stephen discusses that  dry needling shows moderate evidence shows  and especially if associates with other theraphies and  He demonstrates  various technique dry needling procedure  for low back pain for lumbar paraspinals, multifidi, quadratus lumbroum (sidelying), gluteus maximus/minimus, iliopsoas, piriformis etc.
