At the conclusion of this course,

the learner will be able to:

Understand the anatomy and function of the pelvic floor muscles

Learn the common symptoms of pelvic floor dysfunction, such as urinary incontinence, pelvic pain, and prolapse Identify risk factors for developing pelvic floor dysfunction, such as pregnancy, childbirth, and menopause

Learn exercises and techniques to improve pelvic floor strength and function, such as kegel exercises and breathing techniques

Understand the importance of proper posture and body mechanics in pelvic floor health

Develop strategies for preventing and managing pelvic floor dysfunction

Learn how to assess and treat coccyx dysfunction

Understand the role of the pelvic floor in sexual health and intimacy

Understand orthopedic strategies to address pelvic floor dysfunctions.

Practice performing external and internal vaginal and rectal assessment and treatment.

8:15-9:15 AM - What is Pelvic Floor Dysfunction? Explanation & Prevalence Anatomy & Terminology

9:15-11:30 AM Common Diagnoses: Urinary diagnoses: stress, urge, and mixed incontinence, frequency, nocturia, overactive bladder syndrome, frequency urinary tract infections. Prolapse, Pregnancy Fecal Incontinence, Constipation Vulvodynia, Vestibulodynia, Vaginismus, Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause Pudendal Neuralgia Endometriosis, Interstitial Cystitis

11:30 AM-12:00 PM The Causes Differential Diagnosis

12:00-1:00 PM Lunch

1:00-2:00 PM Subjective Exam: How to Get a Good History

2:00-3:30 PM External Palpation and Assessment: Clothed Male and Femal

3:30-4:00 PM Postural awareness of pelvic floor muscles in seated and standing

4:00-4:30 PM Case Study 1 and 2

4:30-5:00 PM Conclusion

8:10-9:00 AM Treatment Approaches for the Pelvic Floor: Research to Support Muscle Laxity versus Overactivity To Kegel or Not? Pelvic Floor Drop

9:00-10:00 AM Dilator and Pelvic Wand Central Nervous Quieting & Stretches Diaphragmatic Breathing Connective and Visceral Mobilization Techniques: Perineal Massage Medial Gluteal Massage, 

10:00-1:000 AM- Bowel Massage Skin rolling to adductor and abdominals

11:00 am-12:00 PM Educational Handouts: Vulvar Hygiene Common Bowel and Bladder Questions Urge Deferment Diet Modification for a Healthy Bladder Controlling Constipation Bristol Stool Chart Orthopedic considerations of the hip and pelvis pertaining to low back Coccyx Palpation and Treatment

12:00 PM-12:30 PM Case Study 3 & 4

1:15-2:00 PM Internal Rectal Examination (Male and Female: unclothed)

2:00-5:00 PM External and Internal Female Vaginal Examination (Females Only: unclothed)
